The designated court official, Hj Johan Areffen, then proceeded to the patarana (throne) to carry a nakara (a type of kettle drum), which is one of the five royal musical instruments to be played in front of the royal family, noblemen, aristocrats, state dignitaries and foreign diplomats.
The Nobat Diraja, or royal orchestra, then began with the beating of nakara in unison with the sounds of the gendang labek (small drum), serunai (oboe), canang (a traditional gong handcrafted in Brunei) and the gong. During the performance, a 21-gun salute was fired outside the Lapau building.
The ceremony concluded with the recital of doa selamat by State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Awg Abdul Aziz Juned.
YAM Pg Anak Hj Abdul Aziz then informed the Crown Prince that the ceremony had been smoothly carried out before HRH delivered a sabda to conclude the ceremony.
