NEGATIVITY towards the country’s decision to implement Syariah law was again criticised by His Majesty in his Hijrah New Year titah yesterday.

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Minister of Defence and Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) yesterday awarded His Royal Highness Prince General Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and General of the RBAF as honorary member of the Special Forces Regiment, RBAF.
The ceremony was held at the Binturan Shooting Range Complex, Penanjong Garrison.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Defence said that the award was conferred to HRH the role, leadership and contributions of HRH towards the development of the RBAF since HRH was bestowed the rank of General on March 25, 2004.
As a General, apart from being consistently aware of current trends and welfare of RBAF members, HRH also plays an important role in enhancing the image and profile of the RBAF through his visits to military and defence institutions overseas as well as receiving audiences from foreign military and defence senior officers, the statement added.
This role supports the efforts of the Defence Diplomacy between Brunei Darussalam and neighbouring countries from around the world.
His Royal Highness is a leader who is committed to uphold the integrity, wise and sovereign leadership of His Majesty particularly in the field of defence, the statement said.
