On hand to welcome the arrival of the Royal Family were Deputy Minister of Defence Dato Paduka Hj Mustappa Hj Sirat and RBAF Commander Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohd Tawih Abdullah.
The reception, which took place at the BRIDEX Conference Hall in Jerudong, commenced with a group photo session of the Royal Family together with senior defence officials.
Afterwards, the Crown Prince signed the royal parchment and watched a slideshow presentation. He also received an album, titled Sejambak Ristaan VII, featuring photos of his visits to the Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and RBAF as well as working military trips abroad.
The Royal Family was then introduced to four members of the ninth International Monitoring Mission (IMT) in Mindanao.
They also met four silat athletes and a sepak takraw athlete who was awarded a silver medal at the SEA Games 2013, as well as two champions of the General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) Match Two at the 23rd ASEAN Arms Rifle Meet 2013 in Myanmar.
During the reception, the Crown Prince was ushered onto the stage for the cake-cutting and received a pesambah from the RBAF Commander on behalf of the military.
The pesambah comprised an exclusive set of ties representing the four branches of the RBAF as well as a set of baju melayu (traditional Malay attire) buttons, cufflinks and tie bar made up of 40 amethyst gemstones, the birthstone for February.
To bless the reception, a thanksgiving prayer was recited by the RBAF Religious Department Deputy Head Captain Ariffin Amit. The celebration was also accompanied with a tausyeh performance.
Prior to leaving the venue, the Royal Family greeted and mingled with 740 invited military personnel and defence officials. On Sunday, MinDef also held a nationwide thanksgiving ceremony to mark the Crown Prince’s 40th birthday.
