HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday sent separate messages of condolences to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Malaysian Prime Minister Dato Laila Utama Dato Sri Mohd Najib Tun Hj Abd Razak following the recent announcement that Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 had been lost in the South Indian Ocean.
In the messages, His Majesty said he is extremely saddened to hear the latest announcement made by Dato Sri Najib Tun Hj Abd Razak during a press conference last Monday on the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.
The monarch stated in the message to the Malaysian premier that he believed the Malaysian government, with the cooperation of the international community, has done its best in performing search and rescue operations.
His Majesty added that the government and people of Brunei joined him in conveying their deepest condolences to the Chinese president and Malaysian prime minister, as well as the people and government of Malaysia and China, especially to the bereaved families of the passengers aboard the flight.
“For the souls of those lost, may Allah (SWT) bestow His blessings upon those concerned,” the monarch added in the message to the Malaysian premier.

HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday sent congratulatory messages to Bangladesh on the occasion of its independence day today.
In the monarch’s message to Acting President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed, His Majesty wished the people of Bangladesh continued good health and happiness with further progress and prosperity.

To the acting president, His Majesty expressed his pleasure of meeting the president at the World Islamic Economic Forum last year.
The monarch said he looked forward to working with the president to further strengthen friendship and close cooperation between the two nations.
In a similar message to the prime minister, the monarch conveyed that he greatly valued the close friendship and cooperation shared between the two countries and looked forward to continuing these longstanding and much-valued ties in the year ahead.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, also extended his congratulations to his counterpart, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali on Bangladesh Independence Day.
“I am happy with our close cooperation particularly in the Commonwealth and your interest in joining as a dialogue partner of ASEAN,” His Royal Highness said.
“I much appreciate the valuable contributions of the Bangladesh community in Brunei and look forward to continuing our work to strengthen these important ties in the years ahead,” HRH added.
