IT IS this moment for which the uniformed personnel wait eagerly every year when they get the chance to meet and greet His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on his birthday.
More than 1,000 uniformed personnel – both young and old – attended a grand banquet hosted by His Majesty in conjunction with his 68th birthday celebrations at Istana Nurul Iman last night.
The grand banquet hall reverberated with applause as clad in white military uniform, His Majesty accompanied Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and other members of the Royal Family arrived for the annual event.
After the feast, the monarch made his way to meet the uniformed personnel. One could see how proud the members of the uniformed personnel were feeling as His Majesty shook hands with them and happily agreed for pictures with them.
The annual banquet concluded with the much-anticipated fireworks show that captivated the guests, particularly the young ones.
Also present at the banquet were His Royal Highness Prince General Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, HRH Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, HRH Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and HRH Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Zariah; HRH Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah; HRH Prince ‘Abdul Malik; HRH Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel; HRH Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah; and HRH Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.
