A STAGGERING 1,000 competitors from Brunei and abroad have already signed up for Regata Brunei Darussalam 2013 on February 3 - and even more are expected to take part.
Hj Raffee Hj Yussof, a member of the event's secretariat, said that as of yesterday, more than 1,000 people have confirmed their participation in the regata's various races, including teams from Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia and the United States.
"The number participating this year is very encouraging, especially with more foreign teams in the upcoming boat race," Hj Raffee told The Brunei Times, on the sidelines of the Maulidur Rasul celebration at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien yesterday. Among the top local contenders are boat racing teams from Mukim Tamoi, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and the Royal Brunei Police Force, he said.
